Watching video of experienced riders on that sled reminded me of a Timber Sled(bike) the way they whipped it around. The sled movement is astounding
Spot on Luke! I own a xrs gade and I test ride the lynx today and they are definitely different.. Yeah I’m ordering the lynx🤣🤣.. That thing is stupid playfull and impossible to bottom.. I’m 6”2 250 and I was drilling everything I could find! Don’t tell my dealer and don’t tell the wife I’m ordering one please boys🤣
RAVE RE is a stunning sled in person, HAVE TO SEE IT!
Super cool to see you have a Lynx! I drive a Lynx Commander. Very different use from what you have in Canada.
Love the video now I need to see a Mach z vs lynx so I can decide which one I wanna buy!
People here in northern europe switch longer front shocks to skidoo because its nose heavy by default. If you want a stupid sofa buy the skidoo. If you want to go faster on the higher end buy lynx.
In sweden we say "Rave" with the US pronunciation. Never heard RAV or RAVE'.
rave is going to take over for heavier agressive riders cant wait to try
Finding parts for a lynx will be pricey and hard in the usa, so I’ll pass on that..
Its mostly the same parts and the BRP company delivering them. So its not likely to be more expensive at all. Its the first time Lynx is offically sold in US so theyre gonna make sure the parts are available and correctly priced.
Need to put the lynx shocks on the xrs
Losen maximum(spring, flatdriver and 17mm) the rear shock on the pps3, and it will beat the r-motion all day long. and the mid spring pressure to medium. Set a shorter limitedstrap, or to the highest setting, for keeping it from wheeling like crazy.
Let's go with the ride video I'm dying to order one of these lol
Lynx RAVE RE sounds like a 137 version of a backcountry x-rs. Lets see a shoot out between those and an SBA!
Do they have the same chassis
Remember me when Ski-doo have also Moto-Ski coming from the same company BRP for 10 years and after that's Moto-Ski was eliminated hope the same story is not going to happen with Ski-doo and Lynx. I'm Ski-doo fanatic since 1970 😃😃😃
Ford ranger and Mazda B2000, same but different. Lol
All i hear is how different they are but seriously rear skid and plastic style don't make it a different snowmobile to me
Your dog walking in and just hanging out was the best !
She has to be wherever I am, all the time. Lol. I should just wear her in a backpack. I think shed be happier that way.
How did they manage too make the new gen 4 uglier than the 2021 and previous years. Idk what it so with that xrs but yikes
Awesome reviews... What's a good sled for SUPER tall riders? Looking for a 50/50 sled and I'm totally torn !
Hope you can do more of these deep dive videos as more sleds and brands release. I’d rather see these type videos on what type of rider the sled works for and how to set them up than just shootouts. It sounds like the Lynx rear suspension is comparable to the Pro-XC Rush and Switchbacks.
100% correct!
Such a good comparison and explanation. I really wish there was an easy way to convert my 2020 Renegade to have that front end. After a couple seasons of riding I have realized I am not an rMotion kind of guy
Waiting for him to say lynx selling for 10k Canadian lol. Can you imagine?
They look Nothing Alike. 👍 The Lynx Looks like a Racer...,, the Skidoo looks like a Trail sled. 😂🤣And I'm Really Loving the LYNX. 👍👍🇺🇸
I'm riding a 09 MXZ 800r Adrenaline so any newer sled I would prefer lol .. If choosing between these two and after racing motocross for a long time, and being a more Aggressive rider I would probably choose the Lynx because i think it would suit my Riding Style more..
that lynk is gonna sell
I'm curious to why they didnt bring the Ranger models over. Rave and Boondocker got their opposites, while for example the 49 Ranger got no competing models from the other brands.
Nicely done. Looks like a solid rig, but I imagine the price is going to be unreal
Can’t wait to get one!!
In Sweden we pronounce "RAVE" as what you call a lsd untz untz party. How they pronounce it in Finland I dont know.
Can you do something on the smart shocx?
This comparison would be better if you said WHAT was different. All you keep saying is "they don't share parts" or "Despite having the same front end they handle completely different" or "they are completely different". Oh did I say that already? So did you you 20 times.
Nice review ! The dog doing video booms is cool !!
I have the 21 XRS and in my opinion its too flat for the way I like to ride. Even with the rear skid adjusted to the lower position it does not transfer enough for me. This could be the ticket. Well done guys, keep it up.....Now get out there and ride it so we know. You're the only feedback most of us will get before plunking down considerable coin.
Hoping to see Yamaha bust out with something innovative & standard setting when they stop recoloring Cats.........
Having a hard time finding a way that this sled is worth another 2500 over the XRS to ride on US soil. Pps3 seems unconventional for us groomed trails. Marketing to keep up with the VR1. Tell me otherwise.
Lynx are for men
pauli piippola suspension mk 3
Lynx=cross skidoo=laid back
we ride aggressive all the time!!!
Hell from Sweden, you are spot on about ridning position etc. The adjustable riser usually becomes loose after a while. Great review as always.
Really fun that all of you over seas finally will have the chanse to ride and buy Lynx snowmobiles. Here in Sweden Lynx is popular and relly tough sleds and can take a beating. Hope all of you that buys one will enjoy it 🤙
Brp is afraid of what polaris is doing
I really want to try that seat
This video simply reinforces the fact that the Doo G4 is not a pretty sled. Never was, never will be.
the more i look at the Rave RE the more i want it.. the XRS was supposed to be a race replica, we want a race sled with reverse, and the XRS is just a fancy'd up trail sled, the Rave is the real deal. I'm probably going to give up the 600RS and pick up a Rave to gain a RS with reverse and warranty. can't wait to smoke the 115' gap at the track on the Rave RE. from skidoo i think the XRS Competition edition will be the most direct comparison only for engine size.
You are the Doug DeMuro of sled reviews. Very nice review. You earned another subscriber.
I’m curious to see how watered down it becomes once the production models make it to consumers this fall. I want to believe the hype and am confident they are the real deal in Europe. However, after 35 years of getting excited about the next big thing then seeing what is actually delivered in the fall..... I’m skeptical it’ll live up to BRP’s hype.
@Steve D'Amico kinda. For example my XCR came with soft springs and valving and was missing items that it was advertised to come with in the spring. ALL the OEMs are guilty of this and they have their little disclaimer that they reserve the right to change the model specifications. Ski-doo has done this over and over with their so called race replica sleds that don’t include any of the chassis gussets and reinforcements found on their 600RS race sled. I just won’t be shocked to read ride reviews posted by real owners early next winter complaining about the springs, shock valving and/or seat all being softer than what they saw/test rode/or read about the previous spring. I’m hoping this won’t be the case but I suspect the vast majority of these Lynx sleds will be purchased by wealthy old men who just want the image of performance. They won’t want to live with stiff springs, shock valving and a seat that comes as the Euro spec.
so your saying a bait and switch? as in people put down a deposit thinking they will get what is in front of them today, but in the fall the sled has lesser shocks, track, skis? Please tell us more.
Great review. What you said is so accurate, it’s not a better sled then the other it’s just better if that’s the style of ride you like. Plus you guys are about to hit 80k in subscribers. Way to go!!!
Incredibly detailed comparison - subscribed and thumbs up! I watched your other one of the Lynx RAVE alone as well and really looked forward to this comparison. I love the look of the Lynx by far over the Ski-Doo which looks too short up front. I hope they someday come with a 900 turbo though Ski-Doo's turbo hoods (with intercooler intake) looks awesome. The Lynx rear suspension is fascinating as are the 46 mm Kashima full clicker shocks all around. I still can't believe we can now by a Lynx over here.
plastics on the Rave se look better just sitting there..
Great video 🤘🏻
So basically they are the same sled
On the next video you make on the lynx you should post raw GoPro footage from your test rides. It’s my new dream sled
Thanks for the content. Helped me decide on my snowcheck. Can you tease us with some smart shock reviews? Lol
You need two channels an Ontario version and a Mountain channel.
These videos are awesome and very informative, keep them coming please!
Lynx looks good. Not SRX good, but really good. Of course looks are subjective but I’ve personally never liked the stub nose Doo look. Prior series was a sharper looking Doo sled. Good article.
I like the way the Lynx looks ..better then that mustard bomb..lol..
I just hope they keep bring them in. Otherwise you'll only have lynx parts for a few years.
Much of the mechanical stuff is the same as skidoo. But theyre here to stay now. The response has been too good for skidoo to pull them after a few years. My guess is youll see more lynx models in north america over the next few seasons.
Is it faster? Real world sled of the year?
Someone should take a groomer to Scandinavia if they have all those bumps
I see what you did here - Comparing your American four lane motorway to european narrow backcountry roads.
Lol, that's what I was thinking
At 12:00 minutes on, you give about the best most practical advice ever! Spot on.
Really looking forward for the Lynx utility sleds show up in North American
Hell, he keeps talking about the trails in Scandinavia is bad... These trails up near Orangeville and Allston are worse than hell itself! I don't even know why I buy a trail pass at this point.
Is there a significant weight difference between the two?
Nice review your right ! most buy the biggest and best and can’t even adjust shocks but want to say they have it and actually not being real about what fits there riding style and needs
Get a chase driver to mount a GoPro to his head and get some dang footage of this thing.
Thank you! I believe coming off a pro s as a trail sled and Polaris having done away with the xc skid that this rave may be the next best thing for someone who wants a playful 137”.
Nice break down Luke, I am looking forward to ST seat of the pants feeling between Skidoo’s new active suspension and there tried tested and true XRS KYB package. How they compare in both real world riding and on whooped out trails!
Right on, good info, and whats the 🐕 dogs name??? Hes great
Overseas u can get the ace 900 turbo 180hp in the lynx
Great info as always...would love to see/hear about how this Lynx compares to an Assault!!
@Luke Lester ....good to know! Sounds like a really fun trail sled...looking forward to hearing your opinions from the ride review on whether that’s true or not.
It really doesnt. Its not an off trail sled or a crossover at all. In fact, while filming my test ride yesterday I got it off the trail a few times in deep snow and it doesnt work very good. It just tries to wheelie and trenches like crazy.
I just hope that BRP doesn't dumb-down the suspension on the LYNX after a few years like they did with the XRS. The XRS used to be hardcore, and now it's not so much
NWT sledding conditions are just like Scandinavia except colder
Great quick comparison Luke! I'm up in Muskoka and a lot of my buddies have been buying freeride and backcountry 146's lately (rip to the freeride 137) so they can rip powder fields and get the nose up on-demand while still being manageable on the trails to get from point A to point B. In my mind the Rave RE kind of fills the gap that the Freeride 137 left behind but does it better. 146 can be a lot of track for some, especially if you're a trail-biased rider, plus the Backcountry and Freeride have a relatively narrow stance which can cause added ski lift on the trails. The Rave Re seems like it's going to be the perfect sled for someone like me who likes to rip trails, hit the powder fields, ride un-groomed stuff and have fun while doing it. The uncoupled suspension I think is what makes this package work. Getting the nose up and getting loose on an MXZ or Renegade can be difficult, but I have a feeling that's not the case with the Rave lol. So, to sum it up, in my mind the Rave RE sits between the Renegade and the Backcountry/Freeride in the Ski-Doo lineup. All the fun of the deeper snow sleds but with a more manageable track length, wider ski stance, and presumably better ride quality on/off-trail with that insane PPS3 suspension. Cheers man!
Great episode, Thanks for sharing
That tank looks like a ball buster.
Hey Luke, I’m undecided between the new renegade x with 1.5inch paddles or the new assault, I would be in the UP and don’t know which is the best for off trail and in trail
If u want to limit the front coming up you just need to tighten the front straps on the pps3
What is the Weight difference if any ?
I just like ski foo because of the cost and the quality combined
Who think the brp lynx was in mind to North America and Canada when brp took cat to court Mhm
I thought the renegade was a whoop machine, I always thought MXZ was the ditch banging whoop monster for Bombardier, I guess they have changed the aspect
Is the lynx rear suspension similar to Polaris older style uncoupled skid in the same fact that they both wheelie.
Great comparison! Thanks
This is super on point. Love it
long since you are so enthusiastic on a snowmobile, I think this will scare blows on the other manufacturers, yamaha and artic cat now have to come up with a machine that matches this, myself I have driven 4 strokes since 2004, rx1 apex now artic cat thundercat, fit my running style, but now I get the urge for a LYNX ...
Imagine(o reimagine LOL)the dealer markup on these sleds.........insane potential...
What are the prices of them?
Glad to finally see Lynx on your side of the pond. Regarding plushness, spend time adjusting the shocks. Took me a long time to get them just so but when you get it right it'll ride more plush than anything else i've ridden and still not bottom out. The progressive suspensiom is awesome . Getting the hi/lo compression and rebound to that sweet spot takes time. Playing with preload in the skid will let you plant those skis more with ease if thats what you want. Last 3 sleds were Lynx and getting a '22 Boondocker RE. Tried alot of great sleds but just feel at home on these. They seem to be made for my kind of riding.
Atleast here in Finland you can select adjustable riser for handle bar as an option.
Well its BRP parts so everything is an option, and there are third market ones available too. I would more recommend a height adjustable one than position adjustable one. Perkele.
11:07 doggo
Lynx have a hard time covering sales in scandinavia I dont know how there suppose to sell to usa aswell they have production araound 4% of what skidoo produce. With that said I like both. My last ride was a 2018 ski doo xrs. First thing I did was mount the lynx blade skis there so much better than ski doo original, they are close to the powder pro skis but not as aggressive and twitchy in hard surface
what do you mean? Lynx is the top selling snowmobile in the whole of Europe.
Maybe I missed it--What 137" tracks are available on the Lynx?
Very professional. Great work guys. When you're done with that, I'll take 'er! Lol lbs
Hi Luke I have the 2020 XRS now and had a Renegade 850X before that. My main question about the Lynx is I think it looks hot and cool but.... Because its for rough trails and I'm getting older , my back feels the Moguls allot these days. The suspension and the fact this Rave is made for that enviroment would it be easy on the back on our Ontario trails for a aggressive but not a total speed demon style rider
Does the RAVE come with e-start in US/Canada? In at least Sweden they come standard with manual start but you can add e-start at spring order if you pay extra.
This one has electric start!
