Best Impact Driver? DeWalt vs Milwaukee vs Makita vs Bauer! Let's find out!
Milwaukee Fuel vs DeWalt DCF 888B vs Makita XDT16Z vs Bauer. Not all impact drivers survive this showdown as sparks fly for one impact driver and another one nearly has a meltdown as grease pours out of the impact driver housing. After testing the impact drivers, they were dropped from 10 feet onto concrete to test durability. Finally, all of the impact drivers were disassembled to compare internal components. Thanks again and best regards, Todd

4:25 Who would win? An innovative application that allows you to identify your power tool using the bluetooth interface Some permanent marker boi Lol I'm just used to impact drivers with my father's initial either written or engraved on them 😂
Thanks for the feedback.
My father's old Makita cordless drill still works great after countless drops, being submersed in water and tackling tons of projects it wasn't designed for. Such a shame these newer products seem to be all flash no substance. I'd easily take a better product without any of the bluetooth crap for that price point.
Thanks for sharing.
Would like to see how HILTI do in these competitions with full size/stubby
Thanks for the suggestion.
I'm in an apprenticeship to be a carpenter and lost my two grandparents who did this for a living last year. Thanks to you I can still learn daily about how to improve my skills!! Thanks!
Sorry to hear that! Glad to help!
Just so everyone knows, every year home depot has milwaukee battery tools on sale 50% off.
Thanks for sharing.
Best video test on all youtube! Thank you ❤️
Wow, thank you!
I'm a Porter-Cable fan. Throw one in the ring.
Thanks for the suggestion.
11:01 rip Bauer
Thanks for watching.
My dad watched this lamp
Thanks for watching.
Thank you
You're welcome!
I went with dewalt because I need more then just mechanics tools. I have the dewalt 3/8 impact,xr 1/2 impact, hammer drill, right angle drill and a basic drill. I'm building a jeep right now and these are saving my ass in the disassemble of the suspension on this jeep. I only has to use my half in braker bar on one bolt on the rusty leaf spring in place of my impact. 1200ft lbs of brake away torque wasn't enough this time.
1/2 in impact comparison?
@Project Farm I'm interested to see how the harbor freight brand does
Great video idea. Thank you.
Egad! You must lie awake at night thinking up the various tests to which you subject these devices. You would make a good professor at an engineering school ! Well done! As always, you are head & shoulders above others !
Thanks for the nice comment!
Should have done the lag bolt test last so we could've seen the Bauer compete in the other challenges. Being the cheapest of all, it out drove the DeWalt and Makita until smoking itself!
Thanks for the feedback.
Amazing video thank you project farm 💯
The Bauer is a joke
Thanks for the feedback.
I've never cheered for an impact driver. Now I have. I'm thirty four. Cheers.
Thanks!
missing kobalt and rigid
I'll save you the time - MILWAUKEE rulez
Thanks for the feedback.
When my uncle first started his carpenter company he had a mix of different brand name tools cheaper brand after his second big job he sold all his tools and bought everything single new tool dewalt he didn’t care that the tool cost 2-3 times more than let’s says Milwaukee and that my friends is the power of brand name advertisement and brainwashing don’t get me wrong dewalt make amazing tools but I think Milwaukee make just as good for cheaper that’s why I would prefer millions not bc the brand but the ratio to quality to price oh also don’t leave your beautiful set of expensive dewalt tools in your car they will get stolen I love my uncle but I found that pretty ironic
Thanks for sharing.
The Ridgid Model #R86039B impact driver claims 2400 inch pounds of torque. I would love to see a round 2 so that you could test that against the Milwaukee. As an electrician I have both brands of tools and am happy with both. I need a new impact driver and am wondering which one is really best! Thanks for your excellent reviews.
You are welcome! Thanks for the suggestion.
Great job man. 👌👍
Thanks! 👍
299.99 for the Milwaukee whew
Thanks for watching.
Ryobi
Thanks for watching.
Makita soft impact? Its pricy but... Damn. For home installs/millwork, its so good.
Thanks for sharing.
That,s weird in Florida DeWalt is the cheapest then makita then mulalkiee the most expensive
Thanks for sharing.
I just bought a DeWalt Impact driver without the Bluetooth toys two weeks before watching this video. After watching this video, I know the DeWalt came in third place, but I still feel perfectly fine about my purchase. I'm using it for drywall, decking, plywood, and things around the house. I have no plans to do anything as heavy duty as some of the testing that was done here. I am however, very glad that I didn't go with the Harbor Freight Bauer model. Not that I was ever seriously considering it. That Milwaukee was pretty impressive though.
Thanks for sharing!
Just got a millwakee combo kit. Super slick
Thanks for sharing.
Makita makes good stuff. I’m a big fan of their corded miter and circular saws for at home use. That being said, Milwaukee has proven itself over and over again for me as a commercial HVAC contractor. I beat the shit out of their M12 and M18 tools and they keep on going.
Thanks for the feedback.
Great video, thanks!
You're welcome!
How about “Which best corded impact is the best?”
Great video idea. Thank you.
The best one is the one you bring home from work !
lol Thanks for watching.
Bauer no suppost to be here with this other brands
Thanks for the suggestion.
what brand of impact driver do you suggest?
really good video! very nicely put together!
Thank you very much!
What’s your thoughts on the Kobalt impact?
Thanks for the suggestion.
Can we get a video comparing cheap impact drivers? Galax Pro, Avid Power, Forte, etc... just to name a few
Thanks for the suggestion.
I love your channel because the tests are pragmatic and the results are useful. I'd love to see a video on brushless drills now that most major brands have them. I was pretty blown away by the outcome of your impact driver tests.
Thanks so much! Thanks for the video idea.
Wouldn you ever consider making a video testing a Ryobi impact gun? I own a set of ryobis and I'm curious how mine hold up against the competition
Thanks for the suggestion.
Cuánto cuesta un taladro de esos les escribo desde Costa Rica
Don’t buy Harbor Freight if you want quality. Get a Dewalt or Milwaukee. Brushless motors will last longer.
Thanks for sharing.
hi, i would like to know which impact socket adapter are you using? Thank you very much, greetings from Uruguay.
What is Bauer? The other brands are good to have, but is Bauer a Harbor Freight brand?
DeWALT IMPACT DRIVER: *CATCHES FIRE* DeWALT APP: OK
Thanks for watching!
I used to work at Home Depot. Your challenge came out exactly as I predicted. You should also test a Ridgid.
Thanks for the suggestion.
wow great variety of tests here expected better of dewalt from their other products performance so interesting result
Thanks for watching!
another great one.
Thanks so much!
My dad never taught me a whole lot about tools(not his fault, I was more interested in video games when I was younger), so finding this channel has been a godsend for me. I’ve learned a lot so far and I enjoy watching all the projects!
Thanks for sharing!
Can you please test hydraulic driver vs impact driver?
Thanks for the video idea.
DeWalt diehards have left the chat...
The messed up part is they are still around in the comments. The tool literally got hot enough to burn while leaking grease, but they are still claiming it's the best.
Would of liked to seen porter cable in this testing.
Thank you for the video idea!
Can you try rockwell 1/2 impact wrench?
Makita was a highly respected Japanese Brand but the STIGMA of "MADE IN CHINA" it's Just another piece of cheap Chinese Junk R.I.P. Makita
had makita for years and never fail
Thanks for the feedback.
Great video (as usual)! A suggestion - when whipping through successive comparisons (e.g. weights or spec torques or RPMs for example) a small graph in the corner comparing each product visually would be nice - yes, more work for you, but even more helpful for us! It's often a bit hard to keep the comparisons in mind as they progress.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Craftsman is best
Thanks for the feedback.
So no HD RIDGID?
Thanks for the video idea.
Milwaukee has trigger problems, probably why it kept shutting off on you.
Thanks for the feedback.
I almost switched to Makita after my brother-in-law bought them as a present for my wedding but the Makita impact drill wasn't strong enough to get through some applications I was trying to get bolts through in wood so I couldn't do it
Thanks for sharing.
Shoulda done the torque test with short sockets
Thanks for the suggestion.
The Bauer kit with case and battery is less than half the price of any of the other bare tools. If you know enough to be suspicious of the Bauer then you likely aren’t part of its target audience. Bauer competes against homeowner brands. (Black and Decker, craftsman, hyper tough, worx, etc.) No surprise it got “smoked” by these tests. lol
Thanks for watching.
direct information with no endless bla bla bla ... Great video . I have milwaukee was going to re tool with Dewalt. after this video going to keep on going with Milwaukee. Thank you . You saved me alot of dough and restored confidence.
Glad I could help.
Exelente prueba amigo..una de las mejores que he visto hasta el momento ..llevado al maximo..no ha quedo ninguna duda👍
Im team DeWalt, but after this, my next impact will be a Milwaukee, please do impact sockets next, always wanted to know which is the best.
Thanks for the video idea.
How about air-powered impact wrenches?
Thanks for the video idea.
*sad Kobalt XTR noises*
*posted for sale on offer up* *like new only used once*
Thanks for sharing.
Just wondering, why is it that you don't seem to ever include Ryobi tools in your videos? I see them pushed at Home Depot pretty hard as an affordable/mid-quality product and I've liked them so far.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Dewalt should be worried. Homedepo said, they are known for bad customer service and warranty fix. If I had seen this video I would have not purchased Dewalt machine what is shown in this video. Paid $300 Thats my opinion. Milwaukee is doing a great job in quality and engineering.
Thanks for the feedback.
One of best video i have seen for comparison. Very well done
Thanks a lot 😊
Why not compare the Hercules brand from Harbor freight instead? I think that was a more accurate comparison.
Thanks for the suggestion.
This is an extremely useful and informative channel. I absolutely love to see the tests and obviously use the information demonstrated to make my tool decisions. Thank you very much
You are welcome!
In my country often use makita simply because the spare parts are more than other brands
Thanks for sharing.
No China trading. No shopping with wish. Chinese company no more trade
🤯 insanely good content! 🤯
Thanks!
You say the makita has a faster start speed on the trigger. I find this is a flaw. I use makita at work and it CONSTANTLY skips off the screw heads. It's very annoying and sometimes painful. Doesnt matter which Robby I use. I would never buy makita or recommend.
Thanks for sharing.
Milwaukee crushes the contest. Why over complicate a tool with blue tooth to let you know temperature when you can have a thermal protector built in like Milwaukee. It has thicker internals and still cheaper than the competition. Bauer excluded
Thanks for the feedback.
Grams
Thanks for the suggestion.
Such a good video!!!!!
Thank you!!
11:00 Bauer.....R.I.P. And, I'm subscribe !!
Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Work building mostly decks all year round and I don't know to me Milwaukee sucks sorry they used to make the best sawzall but the new keyless Chuck ones are god-awful garbage they should be ashamed of themselves. Milwaukee chargers are terrible DeWalt chargers are terrible I think DeWalt has a lot more torque than the Milwaukee and the fact that the dewalt has a 60 volt is a no-brainer for me I wouldn't even deal with any other company. Although for what this might mean to some Makita probably makes the most durable tool but I think it's because they're underpowered. Ergonomically the DeWalt is a lot nicer than the Milwaukee the Milwaukee just doesn't make a nice tool they're all foul.
Thanks for the feedback.
Can you test OBD2 scanners?
I buy the on sale brand.
Thanks for sharing.
While the testing is certainly enlightening as to how each brand compares to each other i.m sure he also understands that what he really wanted to show was at what point do these tools give up the ghost. While it makes for great watching in reality nobody is going to grab one of these to loosen lug nuts or drive huge lag screws into railroad ties.I bought the Japanese made version of the Makita which is superior to the Chinese made version and I am not going to thrash it driving lag screws. Rather I would grab Makita's 1/2 inch impact wrench that is built for that kind of abuse, right tool for the job.
Thanks for the feedback.
My Ryobi fiworld.info/goon/ioex2JKy0Jyad3k/videot.html
Thanks for the suggestion.
buy an impact wrench and get a Quick Release 1/2 or 3/8 -Inch Square Drive to 1/4-Inch Hex Female Socket Adapter. now u got an impact wrench thats an impact driver for a few bucks
Thanks for the feedback.
what brand of screw drivers tips is best for driving screws?
Thanks for the video idea.
what about black and decker driver? or anyone never heard of it?
Thanks for the suggestion.
Awesome!
Thanks!
Do a video on the brightest handheld spotlights/flashlights like this......www.reddit.com/r/flashlight/comments/90q1e2/giant_flashlight_we_found_at_a_thrift_store_my/
Need a video on cheap hammer drills wired ones, with a chuck key, not crappy battery hammer drill.
Ryobi is routinely disrespected but I think it is a brand that can hold its own among the best. I wish it was included in this competition to see how it would perform. Then when one considers the price/ performance ratio if there is such a thing, I think Ryobi might be the winner. The performance is only one thing. Price matters and it should be considered.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Would like to see kobalt impacts tested.
Great recommendation! Thank you
In the UK Makita is the tool of choice of most professionals.
Thanks for sharing.
Test hyper tough please
Thanks for the video idea.
OMFG... I don't know how I landed here - I'm a retired shrink and not much of a tool user. LOVE the scientific approach he takes. Consumer Reports is great, but anyone who uses the sorts of things this chap tests won't find what they're looking for there. I'm sending this channel to everyone I know!
Thanks for watching!
Great job
Thanks!
Please make one with 1/2 inch impacts the big ones
Thanks for the suggestion.
Great video as always I'd be curious to see a heat gun shootout. Especially if you had a combo of corded and cordless
Thanks for the video idea.
5:36 On the chance of sounding ignorant, would anyone use an impact driver to drive anything into wood anyways?
@70chevelle8 That makes sense
A lot of people will use them for regular wood screws, because they are often lighter the the comparable drill/ driver.
