  • They are really messing with ethan lol, should've tought him about using hand tools first tho and then later went to the gun as if he doesn't know how tight to put it by hand then he's definitely going to break bolts the first few times he uses the gun.... and how did it take you guys 10 hrs to do a brake job and change out springs lol, did this on a car for the first time and it only took me like 2 hrs to do all the springs and then another 30 mins to do the brakes lmaoo (the car I did it on was also a pile of rust)

  • I feel like Ethan deserved way more respect than he got here. This is quite an involved job even for an experienced DIYer. For a newbie it was probably quite daunting - guys should have been more supporting of that, he did good for a first time job!... The Ethan of 3 years ago wouldn't have even attempted such a thing, so credit where it's due, he has grown as person. Maybe not a true car guy just yet, but well on his way.

    DaedelusDaedelusUukausi sitten
  • Why would you cut the spring rather than just detaching the anti roll bar and damper and push the wheel Hub down enough easily to take the spring out in one piece? Having installed coil overs in Z3 myself it’s like the easiest car to do that task.

  • Coil overs are cheap if you know where to look. The Front of the Z3 is essentially E36 and the rear is E30. So a set of front E36 coil overs and a set of E30 coil overs for the rear and you are golden. Never search for Z3 parts, they charge you an arm and a leg because its for a Z car. Case in point, i asked pricing for a Z3 2.8 radiator and for a e36 (all identical across E36 and Z3 even same part number) and the quoted price for the Z3 was about 150 pounds more... Same with the spot lights (identical to E39 5 series) Z3 spotlights were about double the price than the 5 series ones and they are literally identical with identical part numbers. That being said, if its the narrow wheel arch Z3 then everything in the rear (subframe diff suspension etc) is directly interchangeable with E30, which makes LSD and final drive ratio swaps cheap and easy with a wide variety to choose from. If its the Wide arch Z3 then you will have to use the wider Z3 trailing arms and side shafts, subframe diff and suspension is still identical. Giving the 4cyl a shorter final drive (notoriously geared too long for the 4cyl) it will make it more lively and can be done for cheap using e30 parts from wreckers. Then anything suspension related for the front, look for E36 Parts. Have fun with that info lol.

    Francois CombrinckFrancois CombrinckUukausi sitten
    • @Shauka Hodan lol Ethan doing a LSD swap with shorter ratio diff and coil overs. would love to see that. Then also fixing the common problem of diff mount shearing off of the z3 making him install a diff mount bracing kit.
