Robert Kubica randomly walked in and asked if he could have a car. I randomly asked if I could join him for a lap. The rest is history.

  • Seriously impressive. The way his hands stay so relaxed on the wheel at all times even when correcting oversteer in the blink of an eye. I also wonder how F1 drivers adapt so well to driving relatively very heavy, less agile cars like this when they're so used to being able to take turns of a given radius at much, much higher speeds due to the light weight and downforce of an F1 car. I'm sure if I spent a day driving an F1 car I'd get back into my M4 and just crash it at the first corner I came to!

  • Brilliant ! First Iv watched in a long time that Iv watched a video that caught my interest. Loved the guys driving which was exciting and controlled. The sound from the engine, inside the car and the track was great. I thought about turning the video off at the start as I thought “ahh just another track drive” but so glad I didn’t 👍 plus the presenter did a great job of not rabbeting on through the drive like a lot of guys do. A great video

Its like having the best candy in the world with the best candy in the world on top of it. :D Awesome video Misha. If you by any chance get Robert to drive in one of your videos again, put some speed meters and stats on screen (if possible), i find that detail very enjoyable. ;)

  • Where the fuck is the overlay for RPM, speed, G forces and such. I love watching an F1 driver take a BMW M4 to the edge of its performance envelope, but you lose a lot of context if you can’t see what the mechanicals and chassis is doing at the same time.

    • You’re missing the point here. Nobody invited Kubica to have this drive. This ain’t a part of any PR or Marketing stunt (unlike the „spontaneous” visits to Nordschleife by Kimi, George and Antonio a couple of weeks after Kubica). This is what Robert does in his spare time. He drives and races (btw, that lifestyle cost him a lot when he crashed in that Ronde in Andora rally in 2011). Simulators or real-life. True petrolhead. So, he came to Nurburgring as a private person, rented a car and drove it for a total of 36 laps (if I remember Misha saying) over a couple of days (he did not do all 36 on a single day). He paid for it as any other person would. He was nice enough to Misha that he allowed him to jump in and film one of the laps (number 16 of all 36). And that’s why there is no view of revs or speedometer or any graphics added with performance related data - because it was not planned and prepared. We gotta thank Misha for being there, grabbing his cam and providing us with that amazing footage. And for those who believe that Verstappen, Hamilton or whoever would surely be even faster in that M4 than Kubica (beacuse they are supposedly so much faster in F1 than Robert), please hold your horses. It takes a unique mix of F1, rally and DTM/WTCC/24H -like racing experience to push it round Nordschleife in BMW M4 like Kubica did.

  • I can honestly say from personal track experience with E46 & E92 M3's and countless hours on the simulator around the extremely challenging Nurburgring, it was hugely entertaining (and at times mind-blowing) to watch Kubica flog the M4 to its limits around the 'Ring. The speeds he carried through the sweepers (with damned-near no run-off) while rarely lifting off the throttle made my cheeks clench as though I were in the passenger seat. And while it was not the smoothest or fastest Nurburgring lap I've seen, by God it was one of the most enjoyable to watch. All from a man who was critically injured & disabled after a rally accident and who garnered the courage & resilience to get back in the car. Bravo Mr Kubica. Thanks for a ride we won't soon forget.

  • The conviction with which he takes the cornering under such acceleration is beyond mind-boggling and each car he passes is made to look like a vintage Citroën 2CV, and that's not meant to offend that wonderful classic car. A real pity we never got to see the full potential of Kubica in F1 after that rally accident.
