  • No comments on "King" Henrik Lundqvist signing a 1 year contract with the Washington Capitals? He will probaly be back-up goalie most for sure, but heck Washington could very likley end up with having the best goalie-duo in NHL 2021. That will in that case be invaluble in the late season and play-offs to have two fine goalies ready for big action. Also Lundqvist is a fine teammate.

    • @Wario's Gold Coin It's really sad he hasn't already. Deserves it ALL the way. Best of luck to Henrik Lundqvist.

    • @Colin Namie Yeah lets hope he will get that cup! He truly deserves one ring to his merits.

      Wario's Gold CoinWario's Gold Coin9 päivää sitten
    • @Wario's Gold Coin I do want him to keep fighting for that cup, even though I like the Pens. I think if Washington wins that cup again his chances of getting into the hall of fame (which he obviously deserves all the way) will get increased so let's hope he does well and gets in. And you also seem to know a lot more about hockey than I do. I just use hockeyreference.com (can't post the link because this is my only account, which is a school account which is blocked).

      Colin NamieColin Namie9 päivää sitten
    • @Colin Namie - Lundqvist was very passionated about New York and the Rangers and was not interested in fist to leave the team. But when the team bought out his contract and eliminated his final year with them he only had 3 choises; 1. Sign with another NHL team - sign for less money but in return go to a team with decent to great championship caliber. 2. Sign with his native Sweden team Frolunda Indians he already won 2 national championships with or... 3. Retire from hockey and forever miss out on ever have fought one more time to win the greatest prize of all in hockey. He did no.1 and I'm glad he still wants to fight and go for it once more to win that cup and also in the process become a Triple Gold Club member (Stanley Cup, OG & WC).

      Wario's Gold CoinWario's Gold Coin9 päivää sitten

    Jordan MillsJordan Mills15 päivää sitten
  • 4:17 No doot aboot that

    D'Arcy SweeneyD'Arcy Sweeney15 päivää sitten
  • Bad Contract: Kevin Labanc for 4 years and 4.75M AAV... The kid doesn't play defense and for that much money the Sharks could have filled three holes instead of flextaping over 1 by signing Gustaffson, Wallmark and Richardson for just 200K more. Thus even after signing Marleau and Nieto the Sharks would still have had around 2M in cap space. Instead, we're locked into another bloated contract with a glaring hole at RD that will absolutely kill us if and when Karlsson inevitably gets injured again

    Ethan KEthan K15 päivää sitten
  • biggest thing with Tanev is look at his blocked shots. He lead the Canucks in that department. That is his value.

    KillerSniper55KillerSniper5515 päivää sitten
  • I figured I'd be a smart ass and point out how unlikely it is for Barrie to score 60 points this season considering that it will be surprising if the season is 82 games long. I do think he has a decent shot at performing above his contract and potentially having a career year in terms of points per game considering the offensive firepower if he's quarterbacking PP1 but most of the speculation I've seen has been a shortened season so reaching 60 is unlikely.

  • Johnson was brought in to chew up PK mins to replace Staal. It's an awful reach to call a 1.15m deal a "bad signing" - if he faceplants, so be it. But the Rangers need some veterans, and can't spend money.

    WILIscrediaWILIscredia16 päivää sitten
    • @WILIscredia When it was 1st reported Dom from The Athletic made a post giving him an 8% chance to outperform his deal. The exact quote from him was "He will likely be the league’s worst defenceman this season." He has a WAR of -1.1 games/season.

      Jon MendelsonJon Mendelson15 päivää sitten
    • @OhNyquist Indeed, but 1.15 *IF* he can be 1/5th the player he was in Columbus is a decent deal. With the Rangers pipeline, he may even be a 7th or a stop-gap. Again, look at his PK. Staal was that for the Rangers, I don't disagree, but look at a deal like Strome and what he was making: They made off and it looked great. It's hard to be disappointed in a veteran who has shown flair when you're paying him 1.15 - NOW BRENDAN SMITH ON THE OTHER HAND...WOOF.

      WILIscrediaWILIscredia16 päivää sitten
    • In every situation he had a negative impact for the Penguins last season, and the year before. They could have brought in somebody better and cheaper to do chew up PK mins and replace Staal

  • As a Capitals fan, I am honestly not a fan of the Justin Schultz signing. Besides the dunking by Pens fans for picking up their "sloppy seconds" (us taking Hagelin, and then Niskanen and Orpik years ago makes it easy for Yinzers to channel their inner Sean Avery), I also wonder how much of a toll has his injuries taken on me. I admit Schultz was amazing in Pittsburgh, but he never played a full season for the Penguins. Plus, at a $4M cap hit per year when the salary cap is not expected to rise, that will be a problem if Schultz becomes a liability.

    Kenny CaiKenny Cai16 päivää sitten
  • Wasn't just Pasta, Marchand also had a surgery with a 4th month expected recovery time. But both guys had the surgery back midway through last month. So Marchand could miss as much as 2 weeks from the beginning of the season and Pasta as much as 1 month and 2 weeks.

    exturkconnerexturkconner16 päivää sitten
  • Is the Johnson signing really that bad though? Best case scenario he plays well and replaces Staal as a Veteran D-man and locker room guy. Worst case scenario Hajek plays instead, which he would have done anyway.

    marvingardensmarvingardens16 päivää sitten
    • I agree. Every single comment is saying it’s a bad signing but are they even considering that maybe he will be a healthy scratch if others are not injured and he doesn’t prove he can play. Hajek is ready to take next step. Nils and Keandre are getting closer too. Jack Johnson is a safe signing, he can be like a cheap version of Brendan Smith. Bring some tenacity with a lot of experience. If you ask me, no brainer good signing.

  • I really hope Barrie finds his home in Edmonton.

    Rusty CuylerRusty Cuyler16 päivää sitten
    • Maybe. Tough thing is that Edmonton is so tight in cap space already and they have some bad contracts in Russell, Koskinen, Kassian, and Neal. Nurse is also overpaid but it’s not terrible. Then Edmonton will also have to resign RNH next season which will get pretty expensive. He is already making 6 million and he could easily get around 8 from another team since he could be a first line player. Also, if Barrie has an amazing season he could price himself out of what Edmonton can pay.

Yes, he˙s good on the PP, helping out the forwards, however... he˙s pretty bad in his primary defensive role ask anybody in Tor , or Colorado how improved our defense got since Tyson and his turnover antics, giveaways and lack of defensive play is gone. luckily the oilers sign him for one year only.

  • Makes blanket statements like, "there's a lot better options out there" then lists none. It's like you listened to XM NHL station then made a video on what they said with no more in depths about it. There's a lot more to those contracts, such as teams being willing and unwilling to make trades with teams that are potential contenders. Not every organization is going to trade players to playoff teams they might see in a run, but no harm to a current Detroit no one is afraid of. This was a great deal for the price and length, an experienced big smart defense, and no risk as you said, but then label it as a bad signing? Because someone on a major media platform did and thats what you regurgitate on here... Fresh content thanks

    Michael BarrettMichael Barrett17 päivää sitten
    • Which signing are you even referring to? If you’re referring to the Johnson signing (which I believe is the only one he said “there’s a lot better options out there”) he did list other options (3 in fact). If he didn’t say this any other time, then this statement is pretty ironic on your part.
