Jari Litmanen kwam in 1992 over van het Finse MYPA naar Ajax waar hij onder andere in 1995 de Champions League won. Na 7 seizoenen vertrok de publiekslieveling naar Barcelona en daarna Liverpool. In 2002 keerde hij terug naar Amsterdam. In totaal speelde de Fin 255 wedstrijden voor Ajax waarin hij 133 keer het net wist te vinden. Dit zijn alle treffers van Jari Litmanen in het shirt van Ajax.

I'm not even a football fan but remember how great Ajax was as Jari was a big thing in Finland and I guess elsewhere also. Thought they were a bit under radar as a team. Players like de boer brothers, marc overmars, clarence seedorf, patrick kluivert, edgar davids and edwin van der sar were all great and I have only good memories of em. Just a rock solid team for years with personalities!

Yes, it was weaker. But Litmanen is one of those players that made an endless amount of repetitions to bring his left foot very effective. đ

Spitsengoals, lobjes, afstandschoten, tegenstander uitspelen, een tweetjes, tegenstander uitspelen, koelbloedig! Gefeliciteerd Jari!

6:10 - I was watching this game on TV when I was a kid, about 9 years old, and this goal amazed me. The situation seemed safe for side in possession but within three seconds Litmanen created a goal out of nowhere, pressing the defender and then killing it with first touch. The next day I asked all my friends if they saw a beauty Litmanen scored and of course nobody did. Since then it stuck in my memory. Happy to finally see it again. Maybe not so special by today's standards but it was my special childhood memory. UPD. Litmanen was my favourite player when growing up. I watched a lot of football when I was a kid, and I watched Ajax the most. I didn't like other popular names but there was something special about Jari - his energy on the pitch or his joy when celebrating... When we were playing football as kids we would pretend to be famous footballers. Every day our small dusty pitch was full of stoichkovs, romarios, papins and weahs. It goes without saying I was always Litmanen. Once in a school a teacher asked us to fill a paper with generic questions and one of the questions was "who is your hero". Some would write "Rambo" or "Bruce Lee", some would write "my dad". I didn't think twice. "Jari Litmanen". You should have seen teacher's face when she read it out loud to the class.
I recall these 2 freekick goals and was trying as a kid to make it happen again, but I guess something was missing :D

Volgens mij kwamen bijna de helft van Jari's goals na een assist van Finidi. Wat een fantastische vleugelflitser was dat.
Ik was nog erg jong toen Litmanen voetbalde, maar hij was volgens mijn vader de beste in zijn tijd. Ik zag mijn pa zonet ook weer genieten toen ik hem deze beelden liet zien. Bedankt Jari! namens mijn vader, maar ook namens mij!
