  • Alaskan here. Can confirm that we drive on the right. However, I think that Japan may off our residents some leniency in the certification process because by and large, our driving conditions can be fairly similar to those found in Japan, particularly for residents of Southeast and Southcentral Alaska, the Kenai Peninsula, and any major outlying island like say, Kodiak. Edit: Did some research. The states that are exempt from the driver’s exam are Hawaii, Maryland, and Washington.

It was a button start, but I didn’t realize you had to hold the brake for the button to work, so I had to have my mom come turn on the car. When she came over she came up with some bullshit about it being a brand new car, and a hybrid, which was not true at all. And then I drove perfectly and passed the test. Goddamn was I nervous though, lol. I thought for sure they’d fail me for that. XD

  • About the Miyazaki being horrible, I looked it up on Wikipedia, and it seems that that his son was a landscaper, and was invited to do the storyboards for tales of Earthsea and then they decided to make him the director. So his son had no experience making a film. Dude he has no experience. You could be less harsh, like WHAT THE FUCK you insulted him on camera your son must've felt so bad. It's his first film, cut him some slack. I mean, I love Ghibli movies but what Miyazaki did was an dick move.

  • Porco Rosso is my favorite movie. It has many layers behind a caricature of a Humphrey Bogart vs Errol Flynn movie. It is a story about different kinds of love, some of which were typical of Bogart and Flynn characters and some that are hidden, like Berlini's story. Also, the amazing depiction of the Adriatic sea in the 1930s: the style, the conflicts, every detail. Maybe they are right in saying it can't be seen as anime. Maybe that is why they don't get it.

  • Maybe I am the weird one, but I really cried at the end of Senjoguhara and Araragi's first date. There is just something really sincere about not only the exchange between Araragi and the father but also Araragi and Senjoguhara on the hill. Especially her fear that she might end up hating him because of her trauma even though she clearly loves him. There is also a moment in Yuki Yuuna is a Hero that really got to me. I don't really want to give the moment away as it kind of ruins the impact but it is basically the moment where the price of the girl's powers and their duties as magical girls starts to really sink in. And because it connects back to a previous episode that looked kind of silly in the moment, it makes the moment even sadder.

  • 1:38:04 the f u mean extended ending there's no ending in one piece since like 2004(5?). OP+ED is actually shorter than is 95% of anime (OP=2:00-2:30 min, ED=0). One piece is something u have to binge while skipping OP and recaps. The way I do it is I stop after some arc/sub-arc ends, wait like 1-2 years and then watch until next arc/sub-arc ends. It's actually pretty enjoyable this way

  • Absolutely no one: An American, pre-coffee: Roundabouts are a regional thing in the US, they're called rotaries here, the right of way goes to the car in the roundabout, entering vehicles have to give way to the cars approaching on the left (because we're backwards AF). Lines to enter roundabouts can get crazy long during peak travel hours, they're universally frustrating.

    Emily MEmily M8 päivää sitten
    • Roundabouts are a great thing. I love them. No one in? Just drive. Congested? Wait and push trough xD And the best thing: because everyone needs to slow down and watch the traffic instead of lamps, accidents are much rarer and less fatal.

  • Wow cowboy bebob is a masterpiece, because of the time when it came out, at that time it was something else. It had outstanding animation and design for its time, extreamly well build character. The problem people have with the story is, they try to look for a main plot, when there isnt any, its only about the personal lifes and development of the character, and the way they did this was amazing. Every episode of cowboy bebob felt more like a short movie than an anime episode. The genre was something non existant, cowboy bebob basically invented it, the design and the music was extreamly great, Watanabe was a big movie fan and he build in so many references from movies. During the making they had to pause the production for years, because bandai who sponsered the production wanted to make profit with the merch, and they produced some, i forgot what exactly the story there was, but during that time, watanabe just said fk this, we keep working on it for all that time, and make it just better. Because of this, they actually made the animation with double as much frames as it was done usually, they made the animation very realistic, usually anime at that time used a lot of methodes to save time, animation tricks, cowboy bebob used none, it almost doesnt feel like an anime. It was also one of the first anime that introduced adult anime on TV to the audience in the US and europe, there were not many who didnt had kids or teens as main actors. The music was done by Yoko Kanno, its just remarkable, Watanabe has said of Kanno, "It was inspired by herself and her her imagination, she came to me an said 'these are the songs we need in Cowboy Bebop' and has composed something completely on her own." Watanabe has also said, "Some of the songs in the second half of the series we had not even asked for, she just made them and we took them'" a behavior normally considered "unforgivable and unacceptable", but Watanabe believed this contributed to the success of Cowboy Bebop. A lot of his work was inspired by music, in Samurai Shamploo its japanese HipHop, R&B and rap. It definitly belongs in the categorie masterpiece, its just not fair when you compare it to modern day anime, youve to compare it to its time. NGE is overhyped, yes totally, only thing NGE did extreamly well was portraing depression, lonlyness and escapism. I was first with garnt, yeah he gets it, cowboy bebob is a masterpiece, and then he says that about akira, wow, i can understand joey there. Im completly with joey there, it completly changed the game at its time, many hollywood directors referenced it, the motorcicle scene in the dark knight for example, straight out of akira. What makes Akira great, is the directing, editing, design, its just like a real movie, and it needs to be compared to its time. The story treats a lot of the japanese feelings with the nuclear bombs and what it did to japan and the mind of the people.

  • wait a sec there is a different type of wank than the cry wank?

    CatexCatex9 päivää sitten
  • Ok, this episode was extreamly important to me, im listening to trash taste most of the time during, gaming/work and tab back in to make a comment or see/note an anime theyre talking about. Its just something i like to listen while im doing something, you know usually not something very important, but in that episode they talked about "men need to cry more", and how they cry to different anime and need to set it up, and connor can cry easilly and doesnt give a fk about it. I just want to thank them for talking so openly about this subject, from the bottom of my heart. I had a really bad childhood and was struggling with depression for over 10 years, i lost the ability to cry, i couldnt do it any more for years and it was awefull. It makes you pile up a lot of emotions until you break. Crying is extreamly important to stay sane and relieve stress and sadly its a subject that many men avoid and there is still this conservative believe so many people still have even in our modern time, like men-up dont be a pussy ect. to many are afraid to talk openly about this topic. And many dont even know they should do it, its very unhealthy if you dont or cant do it any more. Them talking about this subject so openly is great. I really had to stop here for a moment and think, it really means a lot to me, after all i went through and finally regain the ability to cry i know how important this is. I love watching emotionally sad anime and cry, "a silent voice" is a movie that made me cry a lot and i felt so happy after watching it, ive to admit i still to this day didnt manage to watch "your name", i should do it i know. Crying is such an important relieve and makes me feel so happy, before i was able to do this, imagine how it is how often random thougts come up during the day, like sexual, "oh that girl is hot i would totally smash", probably a bad analogy, but during the day, thoughts like that come up at least over a 100 times and you cant control it, but for most of the part youre cool with it, just swipe it off and keep doing what ever you were doing before that thought came randomly into your mind. Well yeah, for me it was, i want to kill my self, how long am i going to endure this, and then i was thinking about how i could do it, what would be the best way, and when. I had to argue with my self in my head every time, every day, for so many years, and some times standing in the middle of the night with a rope in my hand, just thinking, for hours. Imagine this kind of thoughts, popping up in your head, over hundret times during a day, every day, for years! Being able to cry again did help me with that A LOT i cant even emphasize how much. I really wish they would read this comment, because i want them to know how important that is and how grateful i am and what it means to me, sadly im pretty sure this will never reach them. But im still happy knowing they did this and so many people watched it, it made me feel better about my self as well. Sometimes i just watch an anime to make my self cry, and now i know they do this too, i am not alone, its not akward to do this, thank you so much, this made me cry... fk man, i wish i had friends like them. Barely have friends who watch anime, and im not even very weebish.
