I wish Eddie Murphy used this as an opportunity to cast real Africans, and portray our continent a little bit more seriously...the scene about being chased by a lion, or walking about with elephants or his 'brother' Wesley Snipes shooting at his portrait perpetuates the trope of Africa being a savage place where animals and warlords will attack you. Africa is a continent, and Zamunda is just about as fictional as Wakanda..they just don't exist. On this continent there are diverse countries with diverse people who have their own foods, cultures, ways of life and systems of government. Continuing to make such movies makes Americans continue to misunderstand Africa yet a huge part of the population can trace their ancestry to the continent. A big shame! Signed, a Kenyan, African.🇰🇪
